Meet Tim
More Than 40 Years of Experience. A Lifetime of Doing Things Right.
When you call A & J Plumbing & Heating, you're talking directly with the person who will answer your questions, diagnose the problem, and complete the work.
For Tim, plumbing has never been just a job. It's a craft that has shaped his life for more than four decades.
At 18 years old, Tim joined the United States Air Force looking for structure, discipline, and a chance to build a future. He found all three. Stationed at Andrews Air Force Base, he spent four years maintaining everything from barracks plumbing to underground sewer mains. The experience gave him a strong technical foundation and taught him the importance of doing every job correctly, no matter how large or small.
After leaving the Air Force, Tim entered civilian plumbing, where he quickly learned another important lesson. Working for an unscrupulous contractor showed him exactly how homeowners should not be treated. Poor workmanship, cutting corners, and putting profits ahead of people left a lasting impression, one that would shape the way he would eventually run his own business.
Over the next several years, Tim continued to expand his skills. He installed plumbing systems in new homes, replaced boilers and water heaters, worked on commercial buildings, installed water mains, and completed projects in shopping centers, schools, medical facilities, and other large commercial buildings. Every job added another layer of experience and another opportunity to refine his craft.
By the mid-1990s, Tim had built a wealth of experience but wanted something different. He wanted to build relationships with customers, take pride in every job, and earn a living based on the quality of his work instead of someone else's priorities.
So, in 1996, he started A & J Plumbing & Heating.
The company's name comes from his daughters, Alicia and Jessica. When they were young, they occasionally tagged along on service calls and even pitched in with small tasks. They're grown now, but the name remains as a reminder of why Tim built the business in the first place: to support his family while creating a company rooted in honesty, craftsmanship, and personal service.
Today, most of Tim's work comes from repeat customers and referrals. Homeowners know they'll receive straightforward advice, fair pricing, quality workmanship, and service from the owner himself.
Whether he's rebuilding an old faucet that another company wanted to replace, installing a new boiler, or helping a homeowner diagnose a problem over the phone, Tim approaches every job with the same philosophy:
Do the job right. Treat people fairly. Leave them better off than when you arrived.
