The hidden reason clothes wouldn’t dry

Sometimes the problem isn't the appliance. It's everything connected to it.

When this homeowner purchased her home, the dryer was vented through a long run of flexible duct that sagged as it passed through the crawl space before exiting the house. Over time, the low spots filled with condensed moisture and lint, severely restricting airflow. Clothes took multiple cycles to dry, unpleasant odors developed, and excess moisture created ideal conditions for mold growth.

Believing the dryer itself had failed, the homeowner purchased a new machine. Unfortunately, the new dryer performed no better because the real problem was hidden in the venting system.

The existing flexible duct was removed and replaced with properly supported rigid metal vent pipe, installed with the correct pitch to promote efficient airflow and prevent moisture from collecting inside the duct.

The result was immediate. Clothes now dry properly, airflow has been restored, and the homeowner no longer has to worry about trapped moisture, mold, unpleasant odors, or the fire hazard created by lint buildup.
