Replacing a century of service

Some plumbing projects aren't about fixing a leak. They're about preventing one.

This pre-World War II home still had its original cast iron drain piping. Although it hadn't started leaking, the pipe walls had become extremely thin after decades of use, and nearly a century's worth of sediment had significantly restricted the inside of the system.

Rather than waiting for a costly failure, the homeowner chose to replace the aging drain system before it became an emergency.

More than 500 pounds of old cast iron pipe were removed and replaced with a new drainage system serving the upstairs plumbing stack, the first-floor half bath, the kitchen sink, the laundry, the sump pump, and the HVAC condensate line.

The result is a modern, reliable drainage system designed to serve the home for decades to come, giving the homeowner confidence that this critical part of the house is ready for the next century.
