More Than a New Water Heater
Sometimes replacing a water heater reveals a problem that had been hiding in plain sight.
This first-floor apartment's water heater had been leaking slowly for quite some time. Because it was installed in a first-floor closet, the leak went unnoticed long enough for mold to develop on the surrounding walls. Had the same leak occurred in a second-floor apartment, water would have quickly made its way downstairs and been discovered much sooner.
After removing the old water heater, we paused the installation so the occupant could thoroughly clean and treat the mold before the new unit was put into place. Once the space was clean and dry, we installed the replacement water heater, fitting perfectly into the existing closet.
The result is a reliable new water heater, a clean mechanical space, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing a hidden problem has been properly addressed before it became something much worse.
