One Roof Vent Instead of Three

Sometimes the best plumbing improvements are the ones you'll never notice.

This project started with a roof leak. When the homeowner discovered the damage extended much farther than they had expected, with everything already exposed, they decided it was the perfect time to improve the plumbing vent layout before the new roof went on.

he original plumbing system had three separate vent pipes extending through the roof. One vent stood uncomfortably close to a window, interrupting the view and creating the potential for sewer odors to drift inside under the right conditions.

We reconfigured the vent piping below the roof, tying the individual vents together and relocating the main vent farther away from the window. When the new roof went on, only a single roof opening was needed for the plumbing vent instead of three.

The result is a cleaner roofline, fewer openings in the roof, a better view from the window, and one less place where water could find its way into the home over time.
